About

Welcome to 20th Bradford South

Welcome to the 68th Bradford South Scout Group, where we’re dedicated to providing an enriching Scouting experience for young individuals in our community. We extend a warm welcome to all families who have entrusted us with their young ones, and we’re thrilled to have them join our ranks.

The 68th (Wyke St Mary’s) Bradford South Scouts is a thriving Scout group based in Wyke, West Yorkshire. We offer exciting programs for young people aged
4-14, fostering a spirit of adventure, teamwork, and personal growth through the values of Scouting.

The group was formed in May 1915, so May 2025 is our centenary where we have been providing #SkillsForLife for 100 Years!

We provide a safe and inclusive environment where children can learn valuable skills, make lifelong friends, and develop a sense of responsibility. Our program includes a variety of activities, such as:

Outdoor adventures: Hiking, camping, exploring nature, and learning about the environment.
Creative activities: Arts and crafts, music, drama, and storytelling.
Practical skills: First aid, cooking, map reading, and knot tying.
Community service: Projects that help others and give back to the local area.
Weekly meetings: Age-appropriate activities, games, and challenges.
Camps and expeditions: Opportunities for extended adventures and outdoor experiences.

We cater to different age groups through our dedicated sections:

Squirrels (4-6 years): Fun introductory sessions focusing on play, exploration, and discovery.
Beavers (6-8 years): Engaging activities that build teamwork, communication, and basic Scouting skills.
Cubs (8-10 ½ years): Challenging and adventurous pursuits that develop self-reliance, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Scouts (10 ½ – 14 years): Opportunities for greater responsibility, planning, and undertaking expeditions and projects.

Experienced and Qualified Leaders: Our volunteer leaders are enthusiastic, DBS-checked, and trained to deliver a safe and enriching Scouting experience.
Strong Community Focus: We actively participate in local events and encourage a sense of belonging within the community.
Affordable Membership: We strive to make Scouting accessible to all, with affordable membership fees and financial assistance options available.
Lifelong Skills: The lessons learned through Scouting – teamwork, confidence, communication, and resourcefulness – benefit young people throughout their lives.

We welcome young people from all backgrounds to join our Scouting family. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, new skills, or a chance to make friends, the 68th (Wyke St Mary’s) Bradford South Scouts has something for everyone.
